Prior to the launch of Pennypop in 2022, Iris had spent over 16 years working as the Head of Marketing in some of the country’s most successful brands across the hospitality, retail, oil and construction industries.
During the pandemic and at the end of 2021, while on maternity leave, Iris Kavanagh struggled with the idea of returning to a job she no longer enjoyed. Having recently completed her Masters in the same year, Iris was at a point in her career where she wanted to work where her true passion lay – developing brands.
During maternity leave, Iris was approached by a number of businesses to see if she would consider consultancy and it spurred her to set up her own business.
Motherhood motivated Iris, if she could raise a little person with no experience (and survive!) she could definitely use her 16+ years experience in PR & Marketing to support business brands, in her own right.
Setting up her own agency has allowed Iris to follow her passion in helping SME’s get on their feet in relation to marketing and their brand. It also allows her to share her experience across multiple sectors. Working with impressive business people continues to inspire her while being flexible and raising her daughter. It has been a win: win.
